Product Description

The ULTIMATE underquilt for the guaranteed comfort of our taller friends... At 83 inches (211cm), the Incubator 0° (Long) is 5 inches (13cm) longer than our standard full length underquilt.  With 18oz of premium quality,900 fill power Hungarian goose down, this underquilt will protect you in temperatures down to 0* and only 31.5oz packed! If you are looking for an underquilt that is hassle free and will allow you to enjoy your hammock all year around, you have found it.

The Incubator comes with 9, anatomically contoured, differential cut baffles that run the length of the quilt. One of the things this construction technique does is to greatly reduce the shifting of goose down that is sometimes more noticeable in quilts made with premium goose down.  This is one of the reasons Hammock Gear quilts are always 15-20% overstuffed. The differential cut, contoured baffles also provide the highest level of fit which is critical to keeping warm.

The Incubator comes complete with our state of the art shock-cord suspension system, Nite-ize #2 plastic "S" biners, and a stuff sack.

  • Quite comfty & warm

    by Raymond – 3rd May 2013

I got my quilts a few weeks ago and still had a chance to take it out into a -10 centigrade night here in Finland before the spring started. Combined with the 0F overquilt I was quite comfty in my TTM hammock in just a polo neck shirt, slacks & a hat to keep my head warm. Very easy to clip under the hammock and just jump in.

I only have two minor wishes for future product development:
    1) swap the plastic S-clips of the under quilt for proper aluminum ones and
    2) provide loose storage bags with these quilts since they are expensive enough to come with ones like all high-end down sleeping bags do.

Now I need to either store them in the compression bags or sow my own loose store bags to let the down 'rest' in between trips.

  • mmmm, toasty goodness

    by refmo – 2nd Mar 2013

I took my new zero degree Long Incubator out into the backyard for a test run for a couple of hours tonight.
Temperature was a steady 32 degrees, with a sleet/snow mix and light breeze. No problems attaching to my WBBB 1.7 double layer. Cinched the ends up about 7 inches on both ends, which got rid of gaps at the ends. The contoured fit seemed to do a good job of keeping lots of down in the right places, and very good coverage over my wide shoulders. I quickly settled in, using my 20 degree synthetic sleeping bag as a quilt. Wearing thin longjohns, t-shirt, and socks. I was toasty. I had to occasionally peel back the sleeping bag to keep from sweating, so I think this set-up will do nicely down into the teens (I am generally a cold sleeper). I will probably run a line across the two hooks that are placed midway down the lenght of the quilt, just in case the middle portion might need to be snugged up. Did not need it at 32 degrees though. Also no problems with coverage over the footbox in the Blackbird.
Listening to the sleet and snow hitting the tarp, it didn't take long to lull me into a nice little nap.
    Thanks for a wonderful product!

  • Wow - Great Fit

    by TRU – 13th Feb 2013

Wow, this quilt rocks! Granted, I've only taken this quilt into the low 20's, but I was nice and toasty all night long. I'm looking forward to using this into the single digits. I have a WBBB and all I had to do was attach it and cinch up the ends. It fit great and there were no gaps. Also, the quality of the stitching is awesome!

  • So far, so great!

I received my 0° incubator in the mail two weeks ago. I have only tested it one night at around 30°F and I stayed very warm and comfortable. The adjustments were easier than I thought they would be and so far I am very pleased with my newest toy. The workmanship is top notch and it looks fantastic. I am looking forward to my mext opportunity to test at lower temperatures.
